Drive-in Pallet Racking is Ideal for bulk storage

Drive-in racking is a high-density storage system where forklifts drive directly into the rack to deposit or retrieve pallets, eliminating the need for aisles between rack rows, increasing storage capacity significantly compared to traditional pallet racking.

These systems are perfect for when you need need to bulk store an entire load before delivery e.g. water and crisps.

HOW DOES dRIVE-IN WORK?

It operates on a “last-in, first-out” (LIFO) basis for pallet placement and retrieval.

Structure: Pallets are stored on metal racks that are constructed in lanes, not on separate shelves. Each lane has support rails or beams running the depth of the system on which the pallets are placed.
Loading: A lift lift drives into the lane with the pallet and places it on the support rails.
Retrieval: To retrieve a pallet, the forklift drives back into the lane and removes the pallet from the rails.

Advantages

Disadvantages

Difficult to access older stock first due to Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) system.
Accessing individual pallets can be challenging as they are deep within the rack.
Risk of lift truck damage.
Lift truck operators need to take with care in the rack system.
Not suitable for high-turnover products
