novice/experienced counterbalance (B1, B2, B3) Course overview
B1 – Up to 5 tonnes capacity – Electric, LPG and Diesel
B2 – 5.01 tonnes to 15 tonnes capacity – Electric, LPG and Diesel
B3 – over 15.01 tonnes capacity – Electric, LPG and Diesel
You will develop your theoretical and practical knowledge – the AITT lift truck course complies with the standards set in accordance with the HSE Code of Practice L117.
This course enables successful lift truck operators to use any counterbalance forklift (with authorisation) anywhere in the UK.

Practical Skill Instruction
- Introduction to the machine
- Control familiarisation
- Daily checks/refuelling procedures

- Load handling/weight assessment
- Stacking / de-stacking procedures
- Bulk stacking / de-stacking exercises
- Handling awkward loads
- Pre-use check test
- Practical skills test

NOVICE courses
The course for those with little or no experience with lift trucks or Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs). A thorough programme for getting you operating safely.
Experienced courses
Experienced (minimum 6 months), but untrained operators. This course is completed sooner than the novice counterpart, but it’s no less thorough.

If you are already a trained and experienced operator, you can elevate your skill by becoming an instructor. We provide all the essentials you need to do what we do.
